Romney Dodd

Romney Dodd, a third-generation Alaskan, started painting her colorful ceramics in 1991 after the birth of the first of her three sons. She only planned to make a set of dishes for herself, but friends liked her designs so much they asked to buy them. Her work was an immediate hit and supply has never been able to keep up with demand. When her studio clogs started showing signs of wear, she painted them as well, and the original hand-painted Romney clog was born. Today, Romney is well known for her brilliantly colored and highly imaginative pieces.

U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, a longtime fan of Romney‛s work, asked her to create a special ornament to commemorate the inaugural holiday luncheon. Since then, Romney has created a new ornament each year so that those attending these holiday luncheons will have a growing collection of unique Alaskan ornaments.
